Reproduction is the process of formation of new individuals of a species from the pre-existing ones.
Plants
show two types of reproduction.
(I) Asexual (II) Sexual
(I) Asexual Reproduction :
Asexual reproduction is the mode of formation of new individuals by a parent, without the meiotic
formation of gametes and their fusion. It is also called apomixis. It gives rise to genetically similar
plants. A population of genetically similar plants which are obtained from the same individual is called
clone. Each member of
clone is termed as ramet. Asexual reproduction involves three types.
